Hazlewood Castle & Spa - A 4-star historic retreat with a thermal spa, woodland trails, and event-ready chapels

Hazlewood Castle & Spa offers accommodations ranging from standard doubles to spacious 4-poster suites, each with unique historic details, flat-screen TVs, and en-suite facilities. The onsite Vavasour Restaurant & Bar, located in the castle cellar, serves meals featuring locally inspired cuisine. Guests can access a mud Rasul chamber, nail bar, and four treatment rooms in the Imagine Spa, alongside a Finnish sauna, aroma steam room, and raindrop showers in the thermal suite. St Leonard's Chapel, dating back to 1286, provides an atmospheric venue for weddings or concerts with its Palladian altarpiece and fine fretwork. The property is 10 km from Church Fenton and 30 km from Leeds Bradford Airport, with the A64 dual carriageway providing nearby access.

Pros

The extensive grounds include 31 hectares of woodland with dedicated trails and cycling options.

Four treatment rooms and a thermal spa provide varied wellness experiences.

Several historic rooms and outdoor pagodas are licensed for weddings and events.

Dog-friendly rooms in the St Margarets courtyard are available for £15 per pet per night.

The A64's proximity allows convenient transit to Leeds and York.

Cons

No on-site electric vehicle charging; the nearest station is an 11-minute drive away.

The thermal spa access requires an additional fee unless included in a booked package.

“This castle estate offers a relaxing spa, excellent food, and memorable activities within beautiful grounds. The staff ensures a welcoming stay, attentive to details such as room preferences and treatment schedules. I believe it's a particularly good choice for both special occasions and peaceful escapes.”
